How would the Chattahoochee National forest be for hunting hogs? I have a buddy that lives up near there and 'm just wondering if it would be worth my time to head up some time and scout around? Any info on a particular area would be appreciated...

Depends on the Area, the NF goes across the whole top of the state.

A few pockets of pigs, but I think most are one the WMA's, but are huntable during small arms season with a rimfire or ML.

Note it is tough hunting up in the mountains.

Try Cohutta WMA good population of hogs there is a special high power rifle season the first of Feb. As mentioned this is tough country and can wreck a game cart if it's not built right. accommodations in the area are hard to find and camping in the region is the rule. If your interested in some good hogs this is where they call home in north Georgia.
Good luck
