Primers are not considered HazMat by UPS. I have never had to pay that rediculous fee on them.
This entire HazMat thing is a farce.
Loaded ammo is not HazMat, bullets (other than tracer) and cases are not HazMat.
Primers are not HazMat.
Primered cases are not HazMat.
Powder is HazMat?
Nah...it's just another way UPS can up their profits.
UPS has started charging a $5 per item "remote location" fee for everything that comes to me. I am 15 miles off the major highway in northern Montana! That is remote?
I specify FedEx as a shipper with USPS as a secondary shipper for everything I order via phone, mail or internet.
Not only is UPS sucking in the $$$ with this, but if you go to different suppliers you will find different "regulations"! Some are charging a HazMat fee for every case of factory packed powder, whereas other will ship up to 70 pounds of powder for one fee. Some are charging the HazMat for primers, and most reliable ones are not. Some are even starting to charge customers HazMat for cleaning solutions! Some state that primers and powder cannot be shipped in the same package, so they will try and suck two HazMat fees out of customers.
I have even noticed that some suppliers are charging a $30 HazMat fee instead of $20.
Talk about some outfits killing the goose...
