Just wondering how many of you have ever caught any Bass on one of those "gimmick" lures? You know, lures that frogs that croak when you put them in the water. Or vibrating crank baits like the one I saw today on TV. I was given a kit of Roland Martin's helicopter lures and the only thing I caught with them is conversation. What have you bought or been given as a present and did the ever work? Lawdog

Caught one or two on a "flying lure" once. Also got my hands on a flying lure spinnerbait. ( they are made here) Also used a "front runner in conjunction with a spook and a tiny toroedo with a good deal of success. The Helicopter lure didn't get it.

Very Rare indeed. I don't "Bite" on that stuff much anyhow. I figure if they don't sell it in the tackle store, its probably not worth my time unless its a custom jig or spinnerbait. Most of that stuff, if you actually saw it up front and in person, you wouldnt' buy it to start with.

Skipper,

I don't buy that stuff either but when my kids were little and now grandkids that want to HELP the "old man" catch fish. It was my son-in-law's mother that gave me the Roland Martin's Helicopter lure kit for Christmas a few years ago. She gave one to my son-in-law, her husband, to me and a few others. Maybe they gave a good discount for bulk purchases. I got a Coors bottle crankbait(given to me by my last partner on the police force) and many others that has caused me to purchase a tackle box just for the "gimmick" lures, can't hurt the feelings of those that gave them to you. From time to time, I guest speak on Outdoors this Week Radio show. Alex Langer, the guy who does the show is the inventor of the "Flying Lure". I was supposed to have gotten some complimentary Flying Lures some time ago, but they haven't showed up just yet.

Lastyear I bought a bunch of Flying Lures still new in the packages my youngest son used them first and caught bass everywhere he tried them. They were the beginning of tubes. And still work for my kid not for me.
