I have a Remington Model 11 "The Sportsman" in 20 Ga. and a Savage model 720 in 12 Ga . On each of these guns, the safety switch engages after firing and is very irritating, especially if Iwant a quick follow up shot. Most likely this is by design, but is there a cure? Thanks for any feedback.

Nither of these shotguns has an automatic safety.. Where is the safety located on your guns.. crossbolt or push lever inside the triggerguard? The former should not move without a click.. the latter also has a spring which creates a certain amount of tension and a detent to retard unwanted movement. Usually the older inside the guard safeties have these type problems. A trip your local smith is in order... The spring powering the safety on the inside the guard safety, is quite prone to retaining moisture and dirt and the ensuing rust usuall destroys or disables it.. A poorly functioning safety is quite dangerous...
