i was wandering what the best conditions for calling predators at night is...like the wind and moon and such...also what tapes work the best for everything....
I'm in Cranberry Township, 25 miles north of PGH, 2 miles west of turnpike exit three. I'm starting to hear about people seeing coyotes around here, but all I've managed to see are red foxes, and not many of them anymore, too much developement
I've seen them at a place I hunt deer which is just north of Clarion. I'll be doing some calling there over the winter for sure. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they're not there!!!!!!!
well does anyone thta has experience calling know why....i have called in fox and coyotes when there was no snow ...know that there is snow i cant even get a gray fox to come in.....
wags, I grew up in Cranberry our parents still live there off of
Freedom road in Sun Valley.I'am currently living in Noth Sewickly
Beaver county about 12 miles behind cranberry.Lots of farm land out here
allowed to hunt with rifles Still!! how long don't know.I have several
farms lined up for woodchuck hunting this summer. Most Farmers out
here will not let you deer hunt but will invite you onto their property
to shoot Hogs.
brudford, I'm in the Creekwood plan off of Powell road, been there 18 yr.s now. A friend at work has gotten me started in this varmint/predator thing....picked up a .22-250 and made myself a caller. Planning on checking out the area around moraine state park this summer for starters, and one piece of property in wash. county for hpggies. How long have you been playing the varmint game?
Wags,Around 15 years for g-hog hunting my housing plan is surrounded
by a farm 4-5 hogs a month for the local farmer! This will end this spring
as the Farm has been sold to a developer.I use a Savage Model12BVSS
in .223.Moraine is a great place for deer hunting but be careful with the
new proposed zones part of Butler county will now be in the Alleghany
county zone do not know about the use of rifles in the future there.
Since I lost my area for GH hunting I have been forced to knock on
some local farmers doors for permission and not one has turned me
down for woodchuck hunting.I belong to North Side Sportsmen Association Gun Club in Warrendale you should come out and try our
rifle ranges. Brudford
brudford, I should take your advise and check out the club. I usually go to the range on the gamelands just down the road from the club. Sure would be nice to go someplace private to shoot.
8)Wags&Brudford,I Live On Rt.989 Across From Big Knob Fire Hall.Killed Over 60 Hogs Last Yr.Have Yet To Call In A Coyote!!! My Varmit Rifles Are .17Rem, .222Rem, 22-250Sav. I Am Retired. Belong To Gun Club Near Bradys Run Park. B.V.R.P.C. John A.
John A. Go figure, search the www and find fellow hunters from just down the road! I'm just getting into the g-hoggie and predator thing, so any advice that you can provide would be greatly appreciated!! Sounds like you've been at this for a while.........
