OK, since I'm thinking (but not hoping) that I am the only one that has a decent shooting Rossi SS, what game have you shot with your guns? I have struct out so far (not shooting at, but finding) but am hopeful for next season :D .

kjeff,
I have a Rossi lever in .44mag. It has accounted for several mule deer, (mostly doe permits) a couple of wild hogs (one 350 pounder) and a truckload of jackrabbits.
The '92 copy is easy to carry and handle, has plenty of quick backup shots in the magazine, for most hunting it is plenty accurate, and is just plain fun to shoot.
The .44mag is a potent cartridge and versitle to handload for many different hunting situations.
44 SS

Is your Rossi 44 a Stainless Steel version? I am looking at getting a new Rolssi 44 SS after the first of the year. I love the 44 mag.

I got a Wild Goat last month with my stainless steel Rossi R357S .357 magnum, an honest 150 yard shot with open sights (from a T/C Contender) using CCI 158 grain JSP aluminum case Blazer ammo, worked beautifully though I wouldn't use JSPs on anything bigger (100 lbs.).

remington magnum,
Since jeff mentioned that his is stainles, I'll mention mine is blued.

Ganjiro, That goat hunting looks like great fun!! years ago I had a rossi puma in .357 and enjoyed shooting it too.
Whats' the scoop on feral goats? do you have to buy permits/licences, or are they open season all the time?
Just curious.

Most areas no closed season on goat & pigs especially the neighbor islands, but a hunting license is required my resident including upland bird stamp $30, I beleive a non resident is $99.

Nice matching pair you have there, Ganjiro. A shame Rossi discontinued the 357 models :(
This was one of the last from Sports South, I tried getting a matching R44S stainless 44 mag but nowhere to be found in the whole country. They're great guns especially in this chambering.
