Hi All,
Was watching the "Nail and Dowel Method" reloading video over on Youtube. Seemed interesting. The follow up vid with a Lee Loader strikes me as the right way to do low end manual reloading though to be sure.

So here's the real question. Went searching around for pix of home made reloading tools and found this little set someone made as a kid to do .45-70.

Of interest is the use of the hinge as a capper?

Since it basically moves in an arc, doesn't strike me as a good way to seat a cap. I'm thinking improper seating or worse, possible detonation on occasion?

Or is cap metal more forgiving than I remember? (I've always used commercial tooling in the past, so never really thought about capping too hard.)
