IMR 4007SSC Powder Recall

IMR Powder, a subsidiary of Hodgdon Powder Company, announced a product recall and safety warning for its IMR 4007SSC rifle cartridge reloading powder. The company says certain batches of the powder are unstable and can spontaneously combust.

“IMR has received reports that this particular powder in 1lb and 8lb containers may have become unstable due to possible rapid deterioration,” the company says. “Use of this product from these lot numbers shown on the enclosed label may result in spontaneous combustion, fire damage or possible serious injury.”

I got an e-mail from Hodgdon on Tuesday myself about this, altho I had heard about it week or so before.. I was curious as to why I got a personal e-mail, i.e. where they got my address from, knew I was a reloader, etc. Over the years, I've e-mailed them myself several times and have bought reloading supplies from several different online vendors. I wonder if this is where they got my address and info from and how far they went to get the message out.

it was thoughtful of them to message you , but kinda spooky too
in that they would know which individual would be in possession of powder :(
