Is Pyrodex Pellets consistent from lot to lot because.....

I went to the range today just to play around. My Encore at 100 yard was shooting about 4-5 inches high from what it was in September. The groups were great, the first two shots were touching each other. Only difference I can see is that I opened a brand new box of pellets up at the range today. It is adjusted now and again shooting great groups centered where they are supposed to be.

Just curious if anyone else has seen anything like this when going to a new box of pellets. My other thought was the temperature difference, it was a swing of about 60-70 degrees, but I cannot imagine that making that much difference.

Oh, by the way, I like the pellets and plan to keep using them so I do not need the opinion that pellets are junk and quit using them.

Pellets, powder, they all absorb moisture and degrade performance. The old saying...."Keep your powder dry!" had to mean something, don't you think?

Well as usual, one thing leads to another with rotten timing. Went back to the range today because things just did not make sense. My groups started out good and then went about 10" high. But by then the buttstock on my Encore had gotten loose enough that the problem became apparent. Tightened the stock and then started adjusting the scope back up to about where it was last summer.

Why do things always happen with weird timing. You open a new box of pellets and the gun starts shooting high because the buttstock has loosened. Rotten timing.

Good Observation Bullseye!!!

Now if I could just get you to try Triple7....then you'd have something to blame the loose bolts on! Best Wishes.

They are coming out with the 777 in pellets this spring and I am going to try them then. I am currently spoiled and enjoy the use of the pellets. I have enough left for 4 shots which will get me through deer hunting the next two weekends, then on to 777.
