I just noticed something in Handloader Magazine that I have not seen before... Jada Enterprises http://www.jadaenterprise.comis marketing a big bore bullet which is hollow. The hole goes all the way through. The advantage, they say, is that it is capable of much higher velocities and greater distances. Which I have no doubt would be true... There would be some venturi effect which would accelerate the air passing through the inside of the bullet and out the rear, plus a 360 degree lift vector perpendicular to the path of flight... However, I am curious as to the performance on game. Clearly, if this bullet hit straight, stayed straight, and retained it's shape, a pass-through shot would literally create a cookie cutter type hole all the way through. But, I expect that if the bullet was even slightly canted, or canted upon impact, that it would either fold in on itself, or tear itself apart... My suspicion would be that a good, behind the shoulder shot (not a heavy bone shoulder hit) would probably be a good kill, even if it did fold up or fragment... It will be interesting to watch this bullet as product reviews come along...

Jada Enterprise Big-Bore "hollow"

Saw these things at a gun show quite a few years ago along with video of test results. 44cal. shot through a rump roast left exactly the cookie cutter effect you mention. Strings of meat the dia. of a pencil were blown out the exit hole every time but they claimed hydroshock was minimal. They claimed accuracy equivalent to standard slugs at average ranges. Just didn't look like something I wanted to hunt with so I didn't even try em myself.

My feeling about these bullets is this... and remember I have not shot any... On a paper target, the is no doubt in my mind at all that the velocity and distance claims are true. However, I have great reservation about using them on game, and WOULD NOT EVEN THINK of trying them on wild hogs...

might be good for vampires or the devil.......Holy bullet

it should be pretty stable with the gyroscopic properties

Cookie Cutter Slugs

Guys,
I seem to remember reading in G&A some years ago about these cookie cutter slugs were developed for LEO's to shoot out tires. Would even deflate "self sealing" tires due to a good sized plug being removed. As I recall, they were 100% copper and moving at a pretty fast clip.
