Well all,
I am going to start monitoring this site since I have left a different forum. Tired of weeding through the crap to find a decent post to read.Plus, this site is layed back..

Welcome

Yeah - I fit in better on this forum too - not much political BS or arguing - just trapping. although I must admit I do like to get under a few peoples skin at that other site :)

Good bunch of folks around this neck of the woods. I enjoy all of the sites (could do away with the latest rash of "anti" crap), but as you stated, this is a good laid back site, and plenty of knowledge.

Hmmn- I have been a poster on this site for about as long as I have been on the other forums. It is a good forum.

I too am getting disgusted on the other forum. NO- not because of the political bs- thats fun and games- and if you aren't interested in that kind of stuff- ignore it. A lot of what made that forum was the political and off topic subjects.

But two things happened 1) the far right Christian "moral majority" took over every political discussiuon (note, most of those posters never seem to post any trapping info- just point out how any that don't agree with them are commies). This is why some of the older posters quit posting- I know, because I am in regular email contact with some of them.
So the fun is out of that.

and 2) the makeup of the forum used ot be 3/4 (a guess, a guess LOL) experienced trappers, and 1/4 newbies. Now, it seems like it is 90% newbies, which would be fine, except the newbies know everything and worst yet, tthey want to argue every damn point of information you give them. Lately, I posted about trapping gophers. I mentioned a number that I trap year after year, using #1 longsprings. In fact, I make my living using them for 5-6 months a year. I was accused of bragging, of lying, of I don't know what all. As BirdDog said, the fun just stopped. Out on the line yesterday I decided that was it. I didn't need that crap. I came home, deleted all my posts over the past 2 days, and thats that.

So time for a break. I will still lurk (can't quit cold turkey) but I will probally never post any advice on it again. If a subject interests me, I will email that person, as I did a couple of times last night. Sure is nice getting a email in return thanking me for the advice rather than crap from people that don't know a #1 from doing #2.

Don't be surprised if more come to this forum. Look at another recent post. Marty, a coyote man from Canada, trapped/snared 907 coyotes a couple of years ago, and does close to that each winter. This is all fur. Man, they tore him, and every "pro" trapper a new one.

Someone wants to diss me- they can do it in person. I no longer will waste my time and effort giving advice where it isn't wanted.

Trappnman,
What you are writing about is why I am here. I read that post you wrote, and I don't believe it was BS. You are 100% correct about all the newbies that rip into someone if they post anything they disagree with.
Now, this is my kind of forum and thanks for the welcome all. Tom,nice seeing your post here.......................
