So many beautiful SA's. I have but a few, but they'll always be my favorite of handguns. Long ago, I had my hunting 7.5 inch Ruger sawed off to 4", and I carried it. The most accurate handgun I ever shot is a 4 5/8 blued Ruger 45C. Still have it, will never sell it. I've taken two deer with it, and many, many squirrels. Squirrels with a .45? Overkill for sure, but the most meat is in the hams. The next closest, accuracy wise, was a 4" Python. The Colt was prettier but not nearly as strong.

Just picked this up Friday night. It is a Navy Arms Uberti, and I'm finally making my entrance into the 44-40 shooting world. It has .430 throats, so that was really handy that I can use the 44 bullets that I have already cast and don't have to get new sizing equipment. I shot it a couple of times yesterday and I think me and it will be good friends.

Since this thread is back from the dead, I'll post a couple. I own a couple dozen SA's; these are some of my favorites.

First is a pic showing the grip difference on a couple Rugers. The "Dragoon", Colt style, and "Bisley", all in .44 mag.

A Ruger Bearcat, one of my favorite woods walking .22's

A USFA convertible with .44 spec. and 44/40 cylinders.

A Ruger Super Blackhawk that I have taken a fair number of deer with. .44 Mag., of course.

This is my new to me '79 model Blackhawk in .45 Colt/45 ACP convertible. I've never owned a 4 5/8" 45.... I think I'm going to really enjoy it... possibly more than the two 7 1/2" ones I've owned in times past...it's certainly more "handy" feeling. The previous owner put a super blackhawk trigger guard assembly/frame on it, and I think I would love to find a Bisley frame for it... we'll see how that goes after I shoot it a bunch...
