They run free in the National Forests of TN. Dunno about the seasons or bag limits but if you really want to find out just what true free range wild hog hunting is all about that's a good bet. Go do it on your own and if you get one you'll know you've done something. It ain't easy let me tell you and you'll be skunked a lot more often than you'll be successful.
Most of the deer hunting places in both SC and GA I think will likely have hogs running free on the property also. There are a bunch around Estill, SC. Bostick Plantation is likely the best known. These are free range hunts but at least you aren't toally on your own as they have feeders and green fields and such and can give you a fair idea of where you might see hogs.
Understand tho that there are NO gurantees on any free range hog hunt and you'll come home empty handed a lot more times than you will with meat on any such hunt. I've taken them both free range and inside fences and there just ain't no comparison.
like gb said , my father and i have hunted outside of georgia for hogs in allendale just north os estill on a place called Red BLuff Lodge, not only do they offer hog hunting but also turkey and deef hunting , as a matter of fact dad and i are headed thier this comming monday for a twoday hunt for turkey and hogs, and as far as the lodge is coserned the owner and his staff are a great bunch of guys and gals, and the best thing is you have a good old fashion country lunch and dinner, that is out of this world , go ahead and look them up on the net and give 'em a call, you won't be disapointed.
I am going to Estill, SC to hunt boar at Bostick Plantation in a week and a half. I'll let ya know how it goes. I am bringing the Raging Bull .454 casull and my 7600 Remington 30.06. We will be hunting primarily over baits, but we may bring out the dogs. I'll keep ya informed. Hey, Ironknees, I'll send you a write up. Cheers,
