I went out & fine tuned the Knight the other day. I'll be down for the firearms deer season again in 2 weeks or so. My buddy did have a stand mishap down there the other week though. One of those metal encased in plastic cables that hold the platform up decided to break. He cracked a few bones but will recover & is still able to hunt, just lighter duty. I would suspect corrosion inside the cable.

My Son got a nice deer during the youth hunt. I cut back on anterless tags some, & plan to just see what develops. I'll enjoy a coyote opportunity if it presents itself. Looking fwd to it.

I'll pack in earnest a few days prior, still getting ready for Winter. My buddy is down bowhunting right now, so far they haven't gotten to much. I know they took at least a doe or 2. That's O.K., save the big boys til next week, let em have a little fun til then. I saw some good ones on the camera. I hope they get more corn picked, in between rains at the moment.

Well guys, I hate to complain but action was way down at our operation. Deer sightings & overall opportunities were very slow. I did not shoot anything. One guy shot a doe & only one 'wall-hanger was spotted, no shot.

Most of the time it was rather windy, up to 25 MPH. This last day was the best, then most had to head out. Anyway, I may try to line up a later hunt with the same tags. I could of shot a few anterless early on, but put it off a little to long. I was taking my time a little to much.

Nothing with the bow. A button buck on opening day with the shotgun. Had a shot at a nice buck in the exact same spot I shot the little one at. Stupid safety. ;D

i got a nice doe 130 lbs at last light on Saturday ;D she was about 1 mile away from
my van just glad i was a bang flop DRT shot right at the top of a steep hill it still took me
in hour and a half to drag her out wish we had a little snow on the ground so i could
have used my sled oh i used a 12GA rem and copper solid slugs leupold scope 1x4

I missed my deer with this being posted on the handgun hunting forum. Still cant believe it for the range and the way the SBH shoots...I still cant believe this and think that it may have been the cumulative effects of a rushed week and a very rushed 16 hours before the actual hunt. Did have a great time in spite of this and let a few more doe's pass.

Well, I got the time off worked out, so I'll be back at it. The long range forecast looks colder. I hope to get more action than last time. I think I'll concentrate more on the freezer & less on the wall.

No he was not wearing a harness of any type when he fell.

Still had to work at it a bit. There were 2 nice bucks taken, 9.5- 10 ptr area. I took a doe with my Knight & that was my only shot fired, until I unloaded after the rain to clean up. I'm glad I was able to go back & things all worked out.

It is that time for sure. I was only able to hunt on the weekend of the second season and passed on a fork that had the body of a button. The big does were out and the lager bucks seem to have gone nocturnal. Two more chances I believe with the broken four days of the late season which will be doe only of course.

I was able to get out this morning, saw 6 does total. Got a good adult doe at 110 yds with my H&R Huntsman .50 cal muzzleloader. PR sabot over 85 grains of Black Horn 209. Bang flop with a high shoulder shot.

I'm packing up again. I have 2 anterless tags & a buddy has a few too. The main deal is to take some stands down Thursday & then hunt Friday. I was going to use my Gold slug gun but didn't quite get around to fine tuning it with the new SST slug ammo. I'll just take my Knight since it's ready to go. The weather on Friday sounds a little dicey, but will have to do. Sounds like some snow anyway.

We went down Thursday & took a bunch of stands down in the cold & snow. At least they come down easier than going up. There were plenty of folks in the ditch on the way down. We saw a few deer & took an adult doe & a doe fawn. That's enough for this year. After Friday morning the wind slowed & the snow background helped with spotting movement. My buddy wanted some meat for the freezer so he's set now. Deer sightings seemed to be down this year, we also took a good amount fewer deer, which is fine.
