I am going to get SIL a bayonet for his M1 for his retirement and have discovered there are more than one. How do I determine which goes with his rifle?

Thanks,
Ben

Thanks for your responses. Determined his rifle was 1942, so a 10". Earlier versions used either 22" or 16". Many longer ones were shortened at the onset of the war.

Also found him a grease pot, cleaning kit, take down tool, sling, and canvas case along with some more enblock clips.

The CMP is a good place to get all original of this and more, even info on maintenance.
