After our last shoot I offered to let one of my shooting buddies try some of my .38 Sp RNFP bullets that I cast. He followed me home (and no, I didn't want to keep him  ) and I filled up a gallon ice cream container with the ones that I had just finished casting the week before. Said to try them and if he liked them I'd keep him supplied. 'Course cost was no object as there would be none. Have you figured out I like to cast? Can't shoot them fast enough. But that's another story. It had been a hot long day so we said our good byes quickly and I got into a cool house.

Well, next day I go to start my own reloading and realize that I gave my pard all the bullets--now it's not what you think--I hadn't culled out the seconds, those are the ones I use. The good ones go to my shooting buddies. I had given him a bunch of inferior stuff along with the good ones.

Since I can't email him (doesn't have one) I dropped him a note saying what happened and that I had cast up some more for him. If he would put the bad ones off to the side I'd exchange them for the good ones at the next shoot, sooner if he needed them. Got about 28# of them cast so that should be enough.

Now the problem with this whole thing is I didn't THINK before I went and dumped the bullets in the container. Here he thought he was going to get some good stuff and it includes a bunch that I probably would have dropped back in the pot. Just hate to have people think that I turn out poor quality stuff.

Yes, they were free and yes, I'll make it up to him but it really bugs me that I wasn't thinking in the first place. If I had been then there wouldn't have been this problem to begin with.

Gotta start taking my memory pills, if I can remember which ones they are.

Pardner, if your friend gets mad at you for that, he's not much of a friend. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Honest mistake, while doing a favor for a friend.

I'm more mad at myself--CurLee loved the first batch. Didn't want to take the second "good" batch but I forced it on him

It's just I hate to turn out a less than good product. Not necessarily great, super-fantastic but one that I would be proud to have my name attached to. Some of those bullets deserved another trip into the pot.

Anyway, CurLee has enough for a goodly while (50# at least) so he said he'll cull out the bad ones and return them.

Just hate for him to have to do the quality control--that is my job and I dropped the ball this time.

I'm also picky about getting those culls out of the herd, but giving away your best and worrying about including sub par bullets in with free buckets of bullets......

CR, if you don't have a fan club already, I just became the founding member! You sound like you'd make a good neighbor, and better friend.
