Got home and wanted to load up some 225 grain hardcast loads for the .44. Checking the supplies I found out I don't have the usual mag. primers.

Could I use large pistol Fed 150's behind 26 grains of H110 for the loads and expect reliable ignition?

Dave, H110 in the 44 or the 41 pretty much require a mag primer in my experience. A standard primer will make them all go bang, but some will bang better than others. I substituted standard for mag primers some time back and before I got to try them, my son stopped by and borrowed a piece and some ammo, without asking. Turns out this was the ammo he picked up since I wasn't here at the time. Came back that evening with the piece and all but 6 rounds of the ammo claiming the ammo was [fouled] up, and I should know better than to load such crap!

We know the mags work, so I'd stick with them unless you just want to experiment for yourself.

Thanks fro the replys guys!

I guess I will wait then. I already have enough loaded up for hunting.

I bought a 1 lb. can of 4064 the other day and it was $28 here!

I will have to do the 5 hour drive to Anchorage and stock up again.

:D
