Dunno...JH..

I am not committed to any of them, I don't see any as "ideal", but then there is almost never an Ideal candidate in my mind.

....And if there were an ideal candidate in my mind, 95% of the other voters would probably find him/her in varying degrees,

somewhat less than ideal .

For me, R.Reagan came about as close as they get !

We cannot stand around holding our collective breath, waiting for the perfect candidate. "There ain't no such animal".

I have noticed that Huckabee has a very sharp wit and an apparent striving for decency and traditional American values; something

far too many of the Republican candidates and struggle with, and all the Democrat candidates forsake completely.

That recorded speech, fleshed out many of the questions I had about his positions on the military and the seriousness of the

global pervasiveness of the Islamofacist threat; something all the Democrats and at least one of the Republican candidates

completely fail to grasp !

Yes; we all WISH we weren't facing a worldwide, massive, united, guerrilla force bent on destroying US, followed by all civilized nations

..but it is true ! ...And all the WISHING in the world doesn't change the hard, cold facts !

Yes; Huckabee is slightly to the left of me on some issues (the rest are far to the left), but again..I am realist enough to know that the perfect

candidate probably doesn't exist.

It is becoming more obvious day by day that the final opposition for us is likely to be "the wicked witch of the west". Mike's quick wit

and cheerful demeanor would perhaps be the perfect foil in a debate to provoke her wrath and benefit greatly from her hateful temper.

I still have not made up my mind as to a favorite, but then in the final analysis it is unlikely that what any of us on GB's forum

have to say about the candidates, will have any bearing on the Republican's final choice .

BTW: I know this post looks like I have ruled out any Democrats as a sensible choice, but actually, they have ruled themselves out.

Went out to get the paper this morning and go to the store to grab a few things and I had the radio set to a talk radio station. Mike was the host not sure what his last name is. Conservative radio show at any rate. Anyway he said as good as Huckabee sounds do not get on the bandwagon yet. They said Huckabee stated that Illegal Immigrants in this country were no better then the slaves from Africa. Considering remarks like that I doubt he would be the savior for the immigration issue. If Huckabee said that then there is just one more issue to consider.

Yes; that's one of the sticking issues with me ! You may have been listening to Micheal Reagan...

The taped speech I cited has him saying that the children of illegals that are born here should be treated equally with the rest of us..
He didn't say anything any more inflamatory than that, but then, that was a campaign speech.

Now, I guess that's the law, but I am still not comfortable with that..someone sneaking in , having a baby here at our expense and using
that baby as a "wedge" toward legalization..

Perhaps I'm hard line but I think if the baby is less than 4-5 years old, they should be sent back with their baby..

Again; I doubt the perfect candidate exists..

Well the Children thing is a sticky issue as it has always been if you were born in the US you are considered a citizen. So if illegals are coming here pregnant just to make their kids citizens that is a can of sticky worms. I agree that is a something that I am not that thrilled with either. How to fix it though is an other issue?

Being from the State that he was Governor in, "Sheep's Clothing Conservative".

He was all about raising taxes at every chance! And don't even get me started about his weight loose program!!!
