I have always shot Pre 64 Modle 70 guns. However, I am now looking at building a 338-06 and am wondering if the new Pre64 action they are building is worth looking at considering the price of the original pre64 versions. Anyone have any experience with the new version of the pre64 actions.

I have four newer model 70 with the pre-64 actions all in the classic stainless versions in .300 Win Mag, .338 Win Mag, 270 WSM, and .300 WSM. I have never had a problem with any of them. Feeding has never been a problem, neither has ejecting. And most of all (with the exception of the .300 WSM since I have not shot it yet) they all shot 1" or better at 100 yards. What more can a fella say?

Model 70 action

Read the thread on the 338-06 with interest. Anyone else have any experince with rimrock stocks. I have a cataloge coming on them but have never handled one. I own a few McMilian that have been ok. I just hate the feel of a synthetic compared to wood.
