More barrel and frame questions

Hi,

I would like to hear more on the barrel locking lugs transition that DanM originally asked about in another posting. I am having DanM's problem in reverse. I have an older frame with 3 early barrels with the solid locking lugs. They work great. I just bought a used .22 barrel with the split lugs and floating cross pin (not sure if the terms are correct). As with DanM, the lugs are not deactivating the hammer block so it will not fire. Am I correct that it is the left lug that has to do the pushing to deactivate? What do I need to do? Is this a typical problem with mixing old and new? Are there different types of locking lugs that cause problems? Why the changes? Can you tell when a barrel was made by the type of lug it has?

Thanks,
:(

It looks like I will have to answer my own posting.

I found some good information at http://www.bellmtcs.com . Anyone that shoots TC's should have the site marked as a Favorite so they can reread it from time to time.
