Its a heafty stock and looks great the gun looks new/modern when i bought it, it already had the turned down bolt welded and the front site changed to a modern one. I'm waiting for the scope mount to come in yet.Blackwater said:Bill, I saw that, but didn't know it was checkered???? Looks to me like there's plenty of wood, so it ought to be slimable????
Have you got a scope you your Moisen? If so, how does your eye line up with that stock? Do you have to lift your head to see through the scope?
That's exactly what I think I'll get for my carbine.
For turned down bolts; "Jim the bolt man" go to armscenter.com/boltman/ or Email him at [email protected] and he makes your bolt bent and does nice work too for mausers and mosin's. BigBilljdbe said:Nice, I settled a few years back for a black synthetic stock and did the bolt conversion instead of taking it to a gunsmith to turn down the bolt. I have had no problems with the screw on turned down bolt, but it would look nicer if it was not a screw on. I may have to get a newbolt and turn it down any suggestions where to get one?
Just this night, I took off the rear sight and grinded the sight bracket of and polished it up - also shortened the barrel. After polish and reblueing, it looks way nicer.
Now it looks like a more modern rifle ( do have scope mounts that accept weaver stlye brackets as well).
