Looks like mosquito season has started over here. What's your guys favorite load for them?

I really like my 20 gauge and #12 shot. Although the Contender with the .44 mag. barrel, 5 grains of Unique, corn meal and a cotton wad on top works for up close.

I saw one of the buggers today that actually had a plane number on his side! :-D

We still only have the fat and slow ones in Girdwood. Got a beak on them like a good size fire hose and suck like a dredge pump. I saw one attack a full grown lab all by itssef today!

I prefer my controlled round fed, open express sighted repeating quad barreled 600 Nitro Express when they start coming out in force. Thought seriously about trying some C4 lobbed in amongst those unruly mobs last summer, but they ate all of it before I could trigger. They are dangerous, neither man nor beast is likely to survive if caught out alone.

The Alaskan mosquito can be identified easily enough. It has a white patch directly on its forehead right between its eyes... about the size of a man's hand.

I tell ya, the time I was up in the mud lakes over in the Copper Basin....

Worst I ever

seen was on a sandbar outside of Tanana. I was boating down the Yukon to work and they were BAD!!!!! My poor tent still has about 20-30 red splatches on it from that night.

I'd buy one of those mosquito magnets but I don't think I could afford all the propane to torch those little buggers.

About two or three days ago I got my first confirmed mosquito kill. :grin: A big fat one, too! He was like a jap bomber pilot, bearing dead on at me before I finished him.

How do you score those trophies? size of blood smear? quickness? size? all around viciousness? They are all fearless so I think that is out of the question.

I'll be the first to admit when my wife brought one of these home, I was VERY skeptical to say the least!! And when she told me the price, I just knew she had been fleeced.

Well, they say you should sugar coat your words because you may soon have to eat them, and eat them I did. Our "Mosquito Magnet" JUST FLAT WORKS AND IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY, especially if you think of it as an appliance that is going to provide years of enjoyment!!!

My advice is go get one NOW, and enjoy it all summer long!!

I will abmit that getting the breast meat off the things can be a little tough. But with a little Teryaki sauce........ mummmm.

Powdered iron. (Iron filings)

You can usually get iron filings from a shop that turns brakes. Makes an awesome load in a 12 gauge.

I like 31/2 inches of 12ga skeet shot makes a nice hole in a cloud of them blood suckers made my first offensive move on one yesterday and this afternoon I had to defend myself 4 times not enough to get the gun out yet but just another week or so and we will be needing it

Made a bad hit on one last night with the 22 mag, left a good blood trail. My boy and dog are still out trailing it. With the eyes starting to go maybe I'll have to switch to the 12 ga.
