Does any one out there have a Mossberg SSi-ONE? I'll be posting my findings and thoughts over the next few months. Mine is a 22-250 bull barrel. Fit and finish is very good, very pretty rifle. The test target that came with the rifle has a 5 shot group measuring .4". I hope it shoots that good all the time!

I've been curious about these guns too. Never have seen one yet. Sure would like to read some field reports from real users.

Nice to hear they apparently improved it and "uped" the ante on its ability. I handled the prototypes and listened to what they had to say about it at the 2000 SHOT Show (its unveiling) - came away from that experience very unimpressed with both it and Mossberg. Keep us posted.

While the weather here in central Michigan will only allow me to clean and fondle the SSi, I have noticed that it's a bit sensitive to the way it is reassembled. It will not open if the forearm is not aligned and centered just right. Even though the receiver is built like a bank vault, it still sounds like a shotgun when dry fired. I'm just a hopin' it don't shoot like one too! The first rounds to go down range will be a box of Hornady 50gr V-Max's follow by a bunch of handloads. Can't wait....

Cheese"n"rice - I'm still freezin' my ever-lovin' popcicle off here in mid Michigan, with no relief in sight. This winter has been so long that I got four new, wife-hated, shooter thingie's. I've seen more "posts" on my com-pee-yewter than on the fence row around the "range". Man - I guess I'll jus havta go upstairs and give my favorite gun another through rubbin' ta make me feel better!

The test results are in.....

I finially did some testing with the 22-250. I started with 37 grains of H380 behind Hornady's great 55 grain V-Max and got 5 shot groups of less than an 3/4 inch, some were MUCH less. I upped the powder in hopes of more consistent group size and found it at 40 grains. The average group size is fairly small but I'll be fiddling with the bullet seat depth to try for better consistency. I'm also going to try Varget and IMR 4064 as those are also on my bench. Bottom line, very good gun, still needs a trigger job. I think it will do its intended job well "if it ain't corn - kill it!" I'll stay in touch.
