Big Bill,
Check out the Spanish and Central American Mauser Site...has some interesting comments:

First...to answer your questions...>>>It has a barrel that is about 22" long. Is this right for a 95 short rifle?<<< Yes

>>>What is the chance of finding a original stock to fit it?<<< Slim...Unless you just get lucky, an M95 short rifle stock will be a tough cookie to find.

>>>Any one ever tried to repair holes in the receiver?<<< Yes...you can have some screws welded in place, or just install some blank-off type screws, but you will still have a reciever with holes, or repaired holes, in it.

I don't know if the short rifle used a straight or bent bolt...if it used a bent one, that will be another tough item to find.

I believe you will find that it will cost more to "unsporterize" it than the rifle will be worth when you're through, and would recommend you either:
1. sell it as a parts gun or part it out yourself.
2. Buy a bolt and finish the sporterization to a point that it's a useful rifle again.

Should you decide to try to restore it, I have some straight-handled M95 bolts, and some antique '95 Chilean recievers in nice shape for sale. Should you decide to sell it for parts, or would like to trade it for some '98 Mauser or Mosin Nagant parts, email me at [email protected] Thanks!.... wiseguy

Big Bill,
I know it would be confusing.....I copied the entire statement/question from the site and sent it to you. The person had looked at one w/ holes drilled in the receiver and was asking if they could be filled in. How long is your barrel? You have the long-rifle correct? Do you think the 7mm barrel would be OK to shoot, or will you replace it? :p
