I bought an Encore in .454 Casull late last summer. Of course I had to buy brass, dies, bullets, etc. in both .454 and .45 Colt. Topped it with a Burris 1.5x4 scope. Then I thought it might be nice to have a .22 cal barrel. After another $325 I was the proud owner of a Virgin Valley .22 match barrel with rimfire conversion and a VVCG scope base. Don't forget the $225 for the Leupold/Gilmore red dot scope. Never one to know when I'm well off, I was perusing Ebay a short time ago. Bad move. After parting with $297 I'm now the owner of an Encore barrel in 6.5x55 Swede. Whoops! It's a VVCG barrel with hanger system that won't fit the factory fore arm. Out goes another $216 for a custom set of fore arm and grip (can't have an ugly factory grip with a pretty custom brown laminate fore arm) and a 6 screw base. Mustn't forget $135 for a Bushnell Trophy 2x6 scope. Brass and bullet, you say? Does the Betty Ford Clinic have a section for T/C Contender and Encore owners? Just Say No didn't work.
