About six years ago i added an 20' x 46' addition onto my shop along with a second story room. Because the second story room went up last, i knew i'd have to walk on the shop roof, so i just put down roll roofing. Now with the second story room up, and a nice stairs to get to it, it was time to roof the shop "properly"...

Today my nephues came over to help me, so we got started stripping that roll roof off, and it was quite a job as i had glued the edge down and nailed it every 6"!

With the old roof off, it was time to start shingleing...

And on up we went with the new!

And here it is all shingled, right on up the gable end! All that's left to do is screw some tin down, and add some vents to the roof. I can do that later on a nicer day...

I really like the way the gable end looks with those architectural shingles on it!!

Well, that should be the last roof i'll ever have to put on this part of the shop, and i'm glad it's done!!

Hope you liked the picts... 8)

Nice Job and I salute you for it although my knee's and ankles are baulking in protest!

Helped a brother with this in the spring. His was just a 30'x30' garage that received insulation and osb on the inner walls and rafters along with one of the pull down stair cases and the new shingles.
Of Special note was the installation of a power gable fan and the R-40 insulation between the rafters. Summer time temperatures in the garage were 12 to 15 degrees below outside temps!
I have been thinking about doing this work to my little 24x24.

I do not know what you have in mind for your roof vents but know that a solar powered turbine type does exist. They were kind of pricey but would move a lot of air. That summer time cooling sure is great!.

Thanks, and yes that roofing is a killer!!! That's why i had my nephues over helping me!! I stayed on one end, and finished the rows, doing all the flashing! That sure made it a lot easier for me...

And they sure liked it when i lifted all the shingles up on the roof with my tractor too... lol

As for cooling, this roof is in the shade as it points north, so there's not much sun on it that i have to get very fancy with the venting...

Glad you liked the picts!
