I picked up my Taurus model 905 9 mm revolver today. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but already have found a problem. The full moon clips that Taurus furnished with the gun will not hold the cartridges. They are so loose that they fall out of the clips. Does anyone know of a source of half or full moon clips that will hold the cartridges tightly that will work with this gun?

9mm revolver

I bought one for my wife. She doesn't like it. She says it's got too much kick... I thought it was ok...

It doesn't do well with aguila I.Q. ammo.
It makes the cases swell up and they're hard to eject from the cylinder...

As for the moon clips, they seemed to work ok for me...
I haven't found another source for them either...

Thanks

I don't think you will find an alternate moon clip.
I have done a lot of searching and have come up with nothing.

I did get a sample clip for a Ruger SP101 9 mm, It almost fit.
It was 035" thick, the Taurus stellar clip is only 020" thick.
The thick moon clip will lock up the cylinder. So be careful what you
buy.

However, I may have a solution to the problem. I have some
elastic bands, not rubber bands, elastic bands.
They are the used by girls in their hair. The bands are realy
stretchy and very tough. I use one to hold the cartridges in the moon
clip. It fits in the extractor groove and holds the cartridges in place.
You can load the cylinder with the band in place. The cylinder will
close without removeing the band.

I think that you can fire the gun with the band in place. I have not
been to te range to try it but I will be going Saturady.

With the cartridges held firmly in place, you can do a speed load
without droping any cartridges. The moon clip carriies well in my
pants pocket.

I bought the elastic bands at Target (store).
The package is labeled "GOODY OUCHLESS".
It is pink and purple. The package has 160 bands of various
sizes. The bar code number is 41457 32086. $1.99.
I know you will want to try them.

Taurus website does not have an e-mail address posted to send
complaints and suggestions. Maybe someone knows of
an e-mail address for an engineer or marketing person
at Taurus that we could write to.

Good luck, let me hear from you.

TAURUS 905 9MM AND ELASTIC BANDS

I shot my Taurus 9 mm at the range using the elastic bands to
hold the cartridges in place. I left the band in place while I fired
the gun. THEY WORKED GREAT. The heat of the cylinder did not seem
to effect the bands. I shot 25 rounds using the same elastic band and
it did not melt or cause a jam of the cylinder.

I am going to use them with confidence.

There is another thing I found out. Some ammunition does not
work well. The Russian steel case ammo would not fit all the way into
the cylinder. I had to run it thru my 9 mm crimp die in order for
cartridges to work.

I had some re-loads that must have some cases that were to
short or the crimp was to tight. These would misfire because they
fit to far into the cylinder.

Cor-Bons and Remington UMC worked fine. I did not try any others.
The lesson here is: If your life depends on your gun, be sure
the ammo fits and works. A gunfight is not the proper place to find
out that your ammo jams your guns cylinder

Need help with Taurus model 905 9 mm revolv

Hi,

Yes, I'm reading. I don't know that I'd trust your fix; however if it works for you, that's good.

I would rather contact Taurus directly and explain the problem. Some have had problems with Taurus's customer service; I have not.

I carry a Taurus 92 on a daily basis.

Taurus model 92

Joshua

Thanks for a response.

I have a Pt 92 AR and I love it.

Forbus does not make a paddle holster for it.
The accessory rail gets in the way.

Do you know of any holster that fits?

David B.,

Accessory rail? When did they come out with these?

My PT92 is admittedly older, pre-decock, but I love it because I shoot with my thumb riding the safety.

I have it in a Desantis pancake holster. You might check them; I believe they're still at www.holster.com .

Eric Larsen should be able to do leather for you. www.hbeleatherworks.com

I'm going to check on the accessory rail. I've not seen a PT92 AR before... I'll check Taurus.

PT 92 AR

Joshua

I looked at the Taurus web site.
There was not a single reference to the AR.

I do not understand. You can see the AR in the
pictures.

A goggle search yields a lot of references for
the PT 92 AR.

David,

I don't know sir. Perhaps it was a limited run, like the double action only PT92?

Either which way get ahold of Mr. Larsen. I'm sure he can do something for ya'!

Need help with Taurus model 905 9 mm revolv

I finally got a holster that fits my Taurus PT 92 AR.

It is a Galco model M5X202. It fits fine and it has
an adjustment for the amount of drag as the pistol
is drawn.

Cost me about $30.00, that includes shipping and tax.

Call Galco, 1-800-874-2526, ask for Anglia.

IDPA; ready or not, here I come.

905 Full moon clips

Tom @ tkcustom.com (see moonclips.com) says that they will make their excellent moonclips for the 905 in the future. They already make them for the Taurus tracker in .45 acp

Hope this helps...

God Bless,
