Can anyone tell me if the ultra slug hunter is as accurate as they advertise them to be.Also need help on what ga to get 12-20.I'm going to use one whitetails only.

Im kinda partial to the 20 fer slugs and deer. Most are not used for over 125yrd and the 20 will do it very well. Also destroys less meat. I have seen many deer killed with em,and the do just as well as the bigger slugs,and retain energy downrange a little better also i think. king

:wink: You might wander over to the H&R talk forum at www.hr1871.com and look for opinions there. They have a forum just for shotguns, an' I believe I've seen some talk there an' at a couple of other H&R related sights. Don't shoot one, but seems a lot of them like the 20 with those Winchester copper sabot thingee's.

NEF Ultra slug gun

I have a NEF 12 gauge Ultra slug gun and while I wouldn't want to carry it into the back country, with Federal factory sabot loads it will shoot into 2 inches at 100 yards consistently. I have even had a couple of 3 shot groups that were under 1 inch. Like most rifled 12 bores it doesn't shoot regular slug loads consistently at all. I've never had any luck with home grown slug reloads either. Stick to the factory sabot loads and it will get the job done. The weight of the gun makes the recoil feel like a 28 gauge bird gun.

:-D Thanks for the help guys I think i'm going to go with the 12ga ultra deluxe slug gun mainly because you have alot more ammo avaliable for them.I've shot a 870 12ga with a rifled choke tube and it shoots ok but I want a little better accuracy.
