I don't have a 17 Remington, but I do have a 17 Mach IV. It's only about 300 fps slower. Shooting Starke 25 grain RPVB's, I dropped a nice yote at 140 yards. The lungs were just destroyed. I have yet to shoot at a fox with it, but I'm sure results will be similar.

Oh yeah, no exit wound either!!!!!! As a matter of fact, it's hard to tell where the entrance wound is.

I know this isn't a politically correct opinion, but....... I advocate shooting every coyote with whatever you have at your disposal. Here in Wyoming, the cattle ranchers are about to be hit with an increase in cost on gov't predator control because the sheep ranchers have reduced their herds so much and the cost has to be borne by someone. In short, we got WAY too many coyotes. Since hides aren't worth much, not that many people shoot them anymore. I have seen the depredation on our deer herds and Sage Hen population. So as mean as is sounds, I say shoot them when you see them. If you are out with a pellet gun and a coyote comes into range......burn him.

Coyotero
I know severla people that are rebarreling their AR15's to 17 Remington. It is a very easy job and a heck of a dog geter. there at two guys out of UT that hunt all the tournaments and they carry Custom AR15's in 17 rem.
