Finally went a picked up my new Colt Combat Commander yesterday. Gun was customized by John Bettendorf of JB Custom in Portland, OR area.

From the moment I first saw this gun it was something special I had to have. I'd been considering saving up and getting a Les Baer or Ed Brown 1911 until this gun came up.

Hopefully I'll get some nice weather this weekend to try it out...

Here is what has been done to it:

MMC Adjustable Rear Sight
Heinie Front Sight
Serrate Top of Slide
Front Cocking Serrations
Lower and Flare Ejection Port
Fitted Barrel - Match Bushing
Barrel Throated and Crowned
Tension and Radius Extractor
Carry Bevel Package
Tighten Slide Frame
Brown High Grip Beaver
Brown Tactical Ambi-Safety
Stipple Front Strap - High Cut
Match Trigger Crisp 4#
Ahrends Custom Tactical Grips
Full Length Guide Rod
Wolf Springs
French Grey Brushed Finish

No sarcasisim intended, but the front cocking serations never appealed to me. Yes, I do realize that a awful lot of .45 shooters just love them. I see them as an accident looking for a place to happen. Maybe it was just the way I was taught to handle this weapon. In over thirty years of shooting handguns, I think I've seen or heard of more owners shooting their own hands (including police officers) than most other types of accidents.

S.B.,

Wouldn't probably on my list of items to add to a gun. That being said, its hard to shoot yourself in the hand if your fingers not on the trigger.

It's not fair to blame guns, cars or whatever else for a person getting hurt or killed by negligence....... :D

This gun was customized for another person. I just happened to come along and buy it for $500 less than he paid. Just imagine losing $500+ and never shooting it, what a shame.
