Today I was in a shop with a small supply of new H&R handis. They were a mix of Gardner and Ilion built models. Choices in calibers were .223, .243 and .30-30. The one I bought was a Gardner built .223 built in 2004. This one has an ejector barrel and the dark brown stained laminated stock. Fortunate these days to find new guns. Looking forward to scoping and shooting this one.

Those sound like some real well hidden quality made guns. I would get that 30-30 if you can. Everyone I have talked to thinks this was their most accurate caliber.
