Good Grief!! I can't believe this, actually I can. Remember this is coming from the same state that already wants to put a ban on a gun that hasn't even reached production level (The S&W 500) I would have expected this from Kalifornia, but not from middle America. Click on the details of the bill and you can see some serious communist overtones. I'm gonna e-mail a C-man and voice my opinion on the matter!!

Would that not effectively shut down ALL hunting in Illinois??? These representatives are looking to get lynched. They will effectively alienate all sportsmen, all businesses that deal with sporting equipment (not limited to guns) businesses that get part or all of their income from hunters (hotels, restaraunts, etc.), their Fish and Game Division will become grossly underfunded(loss of license fees). These people don't have a clue. The Governor in our state tried to increase the nonresident hunter quota and add an extra week to our phesant season and just about got strung up. And regarding the S&W 500. Each of the represantatives intending to vote to ban this gun should be required to fire one shot with it. Those that survive will realize this is not going to be the gun of choice for any gang banger. Kinda hard to shoot more than once when your nose is broke and the blood is running in your eyes

It's not happening - - - yet.

Dear Editor,

THE PUBLIC GOOD?

The story of freedom, the story of America, is the story of the rights of the people, and the individual's right to keep and bear arms. To not comprehend this is a grave insult to our Founding Fathers, the Framers of the U.S. Constitution, and the gallons of blood shed by brave Americans. It is only by the sacrifices of these patriotic Americans that I can type and distribute these words.

The Illinois State Constitution guarantees the right of the individual to keep and bear arms. That provision did not become a part of our state constitution as a result of whim or fancy; it is there to keep safe the rights of law-abiding Illinois citizens.

Any member of our State government that turns a deaf ear to the intent of those words is ignorant at best, treasonous at worst. Efforts underway RIGHT NOW to SEIZE M-1 carbines, AR-15 civilian models, and other legal weapons held by in a lawful manner by lawful Illinois citizens are an attack on America. To search, seize, and strip away the lawful property of FREE men and women is unconscionable. Though right to own is guaranteed by the Illinois Constitution, mere possession of these ALWAYS LEGAL arms would become a FELONY-with no basis in fact for this legislation.

States that CARE about the rights and welfare of their citizens have already SAVED lives by enacting concealed carry laws for trained, licensed, lawful citizens. It appears that Illinois cares little about saving lives, for the guns they are attempting to steal from their citizens are not commonly used in crime at all! That the blood of Americans has given us these rights seems little obstacle to Mayor Daley and his ilk. See Senate Bills #SB1195, SB1320, SB0238, SB1203, SB1206 and SB1325, and House Bills #HB2532 and HB2536 now in various stages.

When "Grandfather" is led away in handcuffs as a felon, all because he DARED to possess a civilian model of a weapon he bravely defended the United States with in Korea . . . will our Illinois State Representatives THEN wake up? Perhaps when your own Father is led away for "POSSESSION" of a civilian version of the M-16 he fought in Desert Storm with, with the one arm he has left due to his bravery?

Lacking the courage and wisdom to PROSECUTE men of violence, our representatives have cowardly chosen to PERSECUTE a far easier target: the Illinois men and women who have always obeyed the law. This is equally shameful and repugnant.

:( I see some neighborhoods are now ignoring and no longer answering burgler alarms. One woman in California (and Chicago probably) wishes she had her guns back. Minimum response time by police is now one hour in her city. Only crooked politians would want to take our guns away!
