If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between a dog and a man.

Marriage...

A simple enough pleasure, surely, to have breakfast alone with one's husband, but how seldom married people in the midst of life achieve it.

not particularly ecumenical but it brings too mind the song "old dogs and children and watermellon wine" if you add a verse which includes christ jesus.

ABOUT OL' DOGS

As our lives roll along many changes come and go. We often cant remember old friends names, or what we did yesterday. But you can remember every dog you ever had in your life! Strange how that works.

I lost my last dog on Dec,6 2002 A red heeler named "Boots". He was grown when I found him on a parking lot, I tried to find his owner but nobody came foreword, so He just stayed with me. I can tell you this...

I WILL NEVER BE HALF THE MAN THAT DOG THOUGHT I WAS.

That is the thing about a good dog. They don't care about your bank account, your car, your church, or your vote. They love you regardless of your social standing, education. race color or creed. They will endure your hardships and sorrows all without complaint.
Is there any animal on God's earth as selfless as a good dog ?
I think not.
