Elsewhere on the site, there was discussion on the 338-06, which was going to be my next Encore project. Then the 338/348 which I've been kicking around for years, in the #1. But, ever since the 376 Steyr came about, I've been itching to make it something other than what it is. I just can't decide on what, ( indicision is my middle name ), but I think it would make an excellent round. No matter what bullet you stuff in it! Maybe I'll just throw 3 or 4 different diameter bullets in a hat, and have my smithy pick one out! O.

If you want to stay with the 338 dia. one smith near by has worked a little with the 280 Ackley imp. case necked up to 338. It sounds like a good one to me.

9.3

I've often thought about the 9.3. Thinking it would make a good deep timber elk round. But I would probably use more for black bear in my home state of Minnesota. A good 250 grainer stuffed in a 376 case, might be little more than needed. But any critter worth hunting, can't get to dead. O.
