OK I shoot a Encore in 308. I have shot some pretty stout loads in it plus factory loads and I have never noticed a shift of impact. I never heard of this issue until I saw an ad above the forum that sells locking pins for the Encore that locks the pin in place so it does not shift and supposedly change impact. So is this a valid concern or just a chance to sell a gimmick to guys who read the ad and figure they need the pin. At 40 bucks it is not a cheap pin and I always figure if it is not broke don't fix it. I have not had a problem have others here? Like I said is this a valid issue or a gimmick to sell a replacement part?

IMHO it is nothing more than a gimmick. Save your money.

I have heard both sides, but I have had a loose pin in one of my Encores and never noticed any accuracy issues.

we have one that has a loose pin with a 50 cal bp barrel but when we put the 22-250 bbl on it we have to tap the pin in ! ( yes the same pin is used on both bbls. )
son called TC and they are sending a new pin ( larger ) for him to use for the 2 week hunting season and then they want him to ship the gun back so they can see what is going on with it . It also closes hard with the 22-250 bbl .
It sounds like they have a good service dept. it seems to shoot both bbls but the 50 has lost accy over the last couple years .

Custom fitted or adjustable hinge pins can be an accuracy enhancement in some cases, but if yours " ain't broke, don't fix it".

my contender pin was fairly tight... I doubt it would be more accurate with any other pin in it... when my encore comes I will not change anything.. if it is out of spec. I will have tc fix it...
