Martini Cadet Postal match

Are you interested in shooting your Cadet in an Internet postal match? I am going to be conducting a match from April 1 through September 30.

The purpose of the match is to get these classic old guns out of the closet and back shooting in typical old historical "Tinhat” Matches.

There will be two separate matches; one prone and one standing match.
The matches are for Cadet rifles only meeting the following description.

Rifle “Cadet” Military training Martini type action miniature rifle with original battle sights, including Greener or Bonehill converted Martini-Henry with Service sights, or Martini-Henry with service sights and subcaliber insert.

Caliber .310" Cadet or .297/.230" or similar miniature caliber center-fire rifle original chambering, including .22 rimfires.

Rotten bore/obsolete ammunition rule. Rifles may be rechambered to remove a rotten chamber or to compensate for obsolete ammunition or relined to remove a rotten bore.

If rechambered due to rotten chamber or obsolete ammunition i.e. .310 to 32-20. 297/230 to .22 Hornet or K-Hornet, the original bore must be used. The firing pin may be bushed for the higher-pressure ammunition. No other alterations may be made to the rifle of any type. Historically altered rifles excepted. (Bonehill, NRA etc.)

If relined due to rotten bore the rifle must be rechambered in the original historically correct caliber. i.e. .297/230 Morris that has been rechambered to .22 Hornet, If relined then it must be rechambered back to .297/230 Morris.

There will be an entry fee to cover cost of targets, envelopes and postage. Entry fee for each match is $5 USD. To shot both Matches will cost $10 USD.

For more information or to sign-up send me an email.

Deadline to sign up is May 1. Entries received after that date will be returned.

Here are the match dates
Match 1 April 1 to May 31, deadline June 1
Match 2 June 1 to July 31, deadline August 1
Match 3 August 1 to September 30, Deadline October 1

What distances? Any ammo rules, ie-jacketed or cast, blackpowder or smokeless?
Just bought a Martini Cadet rechambered to .32-20 yesterday. Any experience with this rechambering?
I'd take a shot at your postal match, if I can get this thing shooting in the next few weeks.

You will find that that rifle may or may not shot 32-20. But the trick to making it shot is getting bullets designed for the 310 Cadet. It is a heeled bullet.

RCBS makes a mold for the .310 Cadet or you can buy them premade from Liberty Shooting Supplies http://www.libertyshootingsupplies.com/index.htm

I take your post as an email request for further information and will email you the full set of rules for both prone and standing matches.

Thanks Double D! Liberty is a local company here, and I will give them a call. I haven't shot it yet, but when I slugged the bore it came out .317, so a .312 bullet from my .32-20 loads will probably rattle down the bore!
Hopefully with the right bullets, it'll shoot good groups. The bore is great, and the action tight. I pulled the trigger return spring out. (looked like a leaf spring on my truck!) and made up a new spring from .050" piano wire. It now has a trigger pull of 2.5 lbs. Hope to get out this weekend and see if it goes boom, even with my smallish .32-20 ammo.

Guess I can't compete in the Cadet postal match anymore! Traded the Cadet this morning for an Martini International, in .22 LR, with target tang sight, with adjustable aperture, and globe front sight, with sliding sunshade, and interchangeable apertures.
I'm a .22LR Martini guy now!
