Tim,
I have read all the faq's and tips, but maybe I overlooked something. Have a 25-06 ultra, it locks up fairly tight and no bad gaps, but it still has some side to side movement. Maybe I overlooked something, what would you try first? It is not real bad, but is noticeable. Need your help and expertise.
thanks.

The only time to check for movement that counts, is with the forend off and the action locked up, if it's loose then, there's too much gap between the standing breech and the barrel, that is checked with a feeler gauge blade, it should be tight on .002" or smaller, I have many rifles that lock up on aluminum foil, the tighter, the better. The pivot needs to be shimmed to reduce that gap if it's too much.

If it's tight there, check latch engagement per the barrel fitting info.
