question on .22 mag ballistics

Think of it this way, if you throw a baseball 40 feet it will be at eye level 3 or 4 feet out and again at 35 feet maybe. If you throw it 80 feet it will be eye level 3 or 4 feet out and again at 75 feet. That's assuming you threw with the same velocity, the arc of the ball would have to be higher to get out 80 feet. Your bullet is the same way. The sixty yard thing is the problem. Sight it in a couple of inches high at 25 yards and you will be on at about 125, depending on the velocity of your round.

your 60 yard dead on is the problem at that spot you should be high not on. Like the other fellow said staet at 25 yards for a dead on and it will bring you a little closer to being on at the 100 yd mark. And yes the tall mounts can be a little bit of a problem the closer you can mount scope to barrel the better. :D JIM

Your bullet trajectory is a function of the bullet bc and the muzzle velocity. The drop of the bullet is impacted by the following: drag + gravity = mass × acceleration. Assuming a target level with your shooting position the height of your scope above the center of the bore will impact the trajectory intersection points along the arc. A baseball is an example of a shape that is almost all drag (very low bc) and limited velocity.
