reload 20 ga. slugs???

c mac,

Where in northern NY are you located? I'm in central NY and live on the border of northern zone (allowing use of center-fire rifles for big game). I have a 12 yr. old grandson that I am tutoring for deer hunting and would like to purchase 20 gauge slug gun for him as a starter. Looking for H&R Single or Mossberg 500 in rifled barrel. What is your 13 yr old using.....smooth bore or rifled? I have not seen any reloading products for 20 gauge slug.

c mac,

Welcome, and don't forget to log-in!

I live in western suburbs of Syracuse and have a summer camp on the north shore of Oneida Lake right on the northern zone boundry, Vianna, NY. We have allot of state land to hunt on. I have the Mossberg catalog and expect that my local Dick's will offer a good deal on the combo pkg. It would be a nice pkg. for your son as well, unless he's already experiencing growth spurts and looks "down" on his parents! A very knowledgable member here on the form "Original Mikey" is from the Albany-Schenectady region. Great guy too!

c mac,

You also might want to consider my favorite pump in 12,16, or 20gauge...the Ithaca Model37 Deerslayer or Deerslayer II. They're not cheap (new), but I can vouch for their quality. I own one in 12 ga. Other sources are Auction Arms and Gun Brokers.com.
