REMINGTON 522 OR 597?

I am not familular with the new Remington 22's out there but I think the 597 is a improved version I could be wrong on that but that is the impression I get. If the 597 is a nicer gun that the 522 25 bucks is not much to pay for the extra features. Maybe some one else can add to this. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Jim

REMINGTON 522 OR 597?

I bought a 597 for my son for Christmas a couple of years ago and as of now I have sent it back to Remington 4 times. The store where I bought it has even asked Remington to replace it for me and Remington refuses. It has NEVER emptied a clip without jamming. They just clean it and send it back. I wouldn't reccommend it to my worst enemy.

REMINGTON 522 OR 597?

Dogshooter, Remington seems to be like that and I don't know why? the only Remington guns I own are a 870 they seem to be bullet proof and a 1902 Rolling Block rebarreled to 45/70. I do not think i would buy a new Remington since they had problems with the older woodsmaster centerfire semi autos. The recievers were prone to problems and when they went to the 7400 series would not furnish any parts for the older series of guns if you had one and it broke you were out of luck. The gunshop I go to has a whole box of junk receivers from these guns. When I heard of the problems I dumped my 3006 at a loss and bought something else while I still could get rid of it before it broke. The receivers had a problem something about the rails wearing out and then they were not fixable needed to be replaced and Remington said they would not make any new parts if you had a problem buy a 7400. I think at the time they gave you a little credit but not much it still amounted to paying for a new gun. So with that type of attitude I am not a big Remington fan but I do like the 2 I have and they are a time proven design. Jim

I also bought a model 700 VSSF in 223 cause they looked like a pretty well put together rifle. I fired a couple hundred rounds through it (all factory)and I had a failure in the bolt face. The (factory) round washed a channel in it and "welded" the hull to the bolt face. It blew stuff all over my face. When I sent it back to Remington, they said it was obviously abused and charged me $200 to fix it. Won't own another Remington at ANY price.
