Hey Guys:

Just thought I would pass this along to all of you...as a-lot of you know....I'm just getting back into airgunning after a 40 year hiatis...such as it was...and I really wasn't really into it in a big way back then...1 old Bene pump...and it didn't last too long after my brother blew the seals out of it...but...I'm diving right in to it now...

I ordered a Beeman R-11 MK11...and I'm trading a Weatherby rifle in on it( sorry Lawdog...didn't have anything else to trade......it's ok though...it wasn't a Mark 5  )...and...I have been looking at just about every kinda of scope suitable for a springer rifle over the past few days...I think I found a pretty good one to start out with...it's the SCP416AOMDL...model...which is...the 4-16x50 A/O mil-dot Illuminated 5th generation scope...so...I'll be doing a nice review of it in case anyone is interested...I'm getting it from a real nice place to deal with...it's Davids Collectables...http://www.tickbitesupply.com/wileyx.html...he seems eager to help insure your getting what you need...and is a very nice person to deal with...I ordered today...and it was shipped today...and was e-mailed a usp link that took me straight to my shipped order...Man that is great service...most the time you have to plead with places to give you the tracking number...not here...any way...I also ordered a set of high Leapers rings to try out as well...here's a link to the scope page at his web site...http://www.tickbitesupply.com/scope.html...I'll post some pics of my rig as soon as it all comes in...the rifles to be here Friday this week...or Tuesday next week...and the scope will be here Friday per UPS...

Do you know who makes the scope? Lots of features for little $'s! Let us know how you like it and how it holds up on the air rifle.......

What's up with the SWAT (Side Wheel Adjustable Turret) is this to focus with? I noticed your scope doesn't have it......is this a gimmick?

Nope...but I'll try to find out who makes it for you.The side wheel is for the side focus...and again...I have no first hand knowledge of it..but from what I have seen...it is a easy way to adjust on the side focus models by using your thumb to turn the wheel while supporting the rifle with the rest of your hand??? I'm not sure...

VLouis...I'll give you a call when it comes in...I'm hoping it will be today..the 17th...my scope and rings will for sure...

R11 is a nice piece. You're going to enjoy that Rekord trigger. Down the road, consider a tune from one of the pros like Paul Watts or Russ Best.

Well Durn:

The rifle didn't show up today...so it looks like I'll have to wait till next Tuesday...what a bummer...I was hoping to get in some shooting this weekend...

The Leapers scope and rings made it here though...Man  ...is this a big scope...but just from looking through it...it really is bright and clear...the mil-dots show up real good to...both in green and red...the A/O on it...is pretty close to being dead on...at least out to 85 yards...and it really does focus down under 10 yards without a problem...now to get it on the rifle and to be able to site it in and start shooting...

The side wheel focus is more of a range finding device. It works pretty much the same as a scope with an adjustable objective bell, but the adjustments are made with the wheel not the bell-end of the scope. All scopes exhibit what is called parallax error at some range. This occurs when the image of the target and the image of the reticle are in two different focal planes. This can be seen easily by just moving your head around while looking into the scope. If there is error, the reticle will move around in relation to the target. If the parallax setting is correct, it won't move. What the side wheel does is provide a means for adjusting the parallax setting, and in doing so determine fairly accurately the distance to the target. Adjust the wheel until the reticle and target picture are in the same plane of focus, and read the range. Theres usually markings on the wheel that indicate range to target. Once the range is determined, the scope can be adjusted properly for that range. Normally you'd need to set up the scope beforehand by setting a zero then walking the scope through different range increments and creating a range card indicating how many clicks up or down from the zero are needed to get the reticle centered on the target.
