Well we got our wish. Greybeards has added a forum for us Ruger nuts. I have been given the honor of moderating this forum and am looking forward to it.
I think we should get the ball rolling and make them glad they added this forum. I think I am right in saying alot of us probably have at least on Ruger firearm that is special to us for one reason or the other. Mine is a old model M77. This was my first high powerd rifle other than a 30/30 my dad gave me for Christmas when I was 10. I managed to talk my wife, we had only been married for a year, into buying it for me for my birthday. She went down put it on laway and I got it in time for deer season that year. Anyway lets get the ball rolling and make this a great place to learn and brag some from time to time.

Well GB,
Looks like alot of interest here. I am glad you went ahead and let us have this here. Maybe you should let one of us pick out your next Ruger, that way you can get a good one. :-D

old GB needs a #1!!!!!
I had one! #1B in 6 MM Remington a caliber I've long wanted but not many chamber these days.

Even with the fore end hanger work done it wouldn't consistently keep three on an 8.5" x 11" target sheet at 100 yards. Tried factory loads and a whole slew of what should have been good choices of reloads.

Gave up and traded it on a Browning Low Wall in .243. This little sucker puts dang near everything in groups of from 0.4" to 0.8" with bullets from 65 to 100 grains. Straight bone stock with nothing changed on it.

Yup GB had a #1. Maybe one uv yew guys do need to pick out my next one. I sure don't seem very good at picking them.

Let's see... two 50th Anniversary .22 standards, one Govt. Model .22 target, an Old Army and my first gun...a well worn 10/22. The Old Army is my favorite...ahhh, the smell of black powder in the morning!

Be Safe! ...Chris

Well GB, it is just plain bad mojo. I have the exact same problem with Remington. This ain't meant to criticize the green and yeller, I guess they just don't shoot as crooked as I aim. Sometimes life is like that.

For you fellers that are Ruger fans, especially fans of the No.1, you owe it to yourself to try the No.1 RSI's. There ain't but 4 cartridges available, but they do cover quite a bit of hunting ground and the rifles are balanced extremely well, short and handle like a fine bird gun. Check one out.

Let's see. I've got one or two lying around..

4" Security six in .357
an old MK1 .22 standard
a .223 mini 14 ranch rifle
an "old style" M77 .280 with the tang safety
just sold a synthetic .308 (I think it was demonicaly possessed)
and just picked up a 10/22 to build on as a project gun.

I love my Rugers, they "just feel right" in my hands. I want a Red Label O/U. I keep threatening to buy myself one. I told the guy at the gun shop that if I was ever to get married he could sell it to me just so it could be my last "big" purchase as a single man... :-D
