I just ordered this gun a week ago, and was disappointed to learn from my local gun store that Ruger hasn't started making them yet, and that they are not due out for at least 60 days and could take longer, even 6 mos. Anyone else waiting for one of these? There are some of the old models available that are not convertible, 17hmr only, but I wanted the convertible. I'm very interested to see how the 17 shoots out of a handgun, compared to the 22lr.

Ruger Single Six Convertable 17HMR/17M2

I placed my order here in Austin Texas in December 2004. It arrived and I picked it up on 13 April 2005. On 19 April 2005, I returned it to the gun shop for return to Ruger.
The HMR cylinder worked fine. The Mach 2 cylinder did not. You could fire the first cartridge and it would back out of the chamber and jam against the recoil shield. This locked up the cylinder and it had to be forced to rotate.
I have not received it back from Ruger as of today!

Ruger New Model Single Six Hunter in 17 con

I have had one on order for 4 months now. It seems that Ruger made less than a handful, (I heard less than a dozen.) and put them out there to test the interest. I have seen a few on the gun auction websites, but they are asking full retail plus. The price I was quoted was over $100 cheaper than what I am seeing offered. But I guess that's just supply and demand at work. I'll wait, but I am getting anxious.... Just what the heck is Ruger spending production time on?? I think these guns will be hot sellers if they ever appear.

Ruger New Model Single Six Hunter in 17 con

This week will be the 4th MONTH since I sent my Single Six Hunter in 17 HMR/M2 back to Ruger. Today, my gun shop got involved. Ruger informed them that they are having too many problems with the M2 caliber and will not be shipping anymore revolvers in that caliber for awhile (read never - possibly). Ruger has offered me my money back but have decided that they will NOT ship my gun back to me.
I currently own 15 firearms and 6 of them are Ruger. I will not buy another Ruger as long as I live.
Their CUSTOMER SERVICE Dept lied to me repeatedly. Twice (in 2 months) telling me that they would call me back with info and never did. The last time I talked to them (Ruger), 3 weeks ago, they told me they were shipping me a new gun. They didn't.
It will be a cold day in Hades when Ruger gets another dime of my money.
