Ruger No. 1 question.. I heard this was the place for to ask
Did ruger ever produce a Ruger #1 AB that was discontinued in the early 80's. The AB I'm asking about looks exactly like the modern B rifle except it has a 22" barrel and is stated to be a "light sporter" like an A. So from the picture it basically looks like someone took a B rifle and wacked 4 inches off it.
Thanks for any help you can offer, I was told on the single shot page that this is the place to ask Ruger historical questions.
yes they had that model. They came in 7x57, .270, and one other. I can't remember if it was .308 or 30-06. I've got a .270. It's a shooter but I'm getting ready to rebarrel it because I want something different. I saw a 1ab on one of the gun auction sites about a week ago, it was .270 also.
that's the one I've been looking at. I just didn't want to purchase something I have never heard about on face value. Been screwed once too many times. Just sold a Winchester 1873 back to the same gun shop that sold me the gun because of this BS rifle history the shop owner was reciting.
Anyway's, thanks tons for the info, I haven't found anything on the net about it, so I let the auction go by, but I still have the guy's name and e-mail.
was that rifle listed as an AB by Ruger?....I see them at the local gun shows, and just figgured it was an option...was about the time my kids got into school sports and lost track I guess...they are a sweet looking rifle.......very interesting.......Rob
