Hi , I am looking for some advise on running in a new s/s barrel, that I plan to use molly projectiles in in competition. purely to free up cleaning time during 80 shot matches. I normally run a barrel in by the following method, one shot then clean, for the first 10 shots then 3 shots then clean for another 20 then they seem to be great. but I have never used molly before. Many thank Phill

First, don't use moly on the breakin bullets. That's about it. The routine sounds fine. Just as a personal note you might consider ending the breakin routine when you stop getting copper on the patch. With the Hart barrel on my 7 BR that was after the second shot.
After several years of shooting moly I've landed in the camp that feels it's not worth the trouble and expense. I have no idea whather it accomplishes anything at all. You'll still get copper out of moly barrels, especially when they get a few miles on them. I've still got a good supply that I continue to use in a hunter rifle. Given that we're shooting offhand and that most barrels don't show significant accuracy deterioration in 80 rounds I decided to just quit worrying about it but you'll enjoy the experiment and might find it's great stuff.
