safety on the Marlin and winchester lever a

The ultimate safety is between the ears! All others are mechanical and prone to failure.

The only safety on mine is half cock...
The one safety I always hated was the one you had to squeeze the lever on to fire on the winchester. I had one that if you didnt hold it just right it wouldn't fire and was very aggrivating.

For a safe shooter, half cock is all you need.
I wonder if the question refers to a comparison between the damned ugly crossbolt on the newer Marlins, or the marginally better looking tang safety on the Winchester.
If thet's the referance, I prefer niether was on my gun, but I think the Winchester the faster of the two.

safety on the Marlin and winchester lever a

Hi:

I was thinking about the safety on my Marlin Model 60. It has a crossbolt safeety , which I really like. I have a Browning Model 81 in .308. I don't like the style of safety on that rifle at all. The hammer is too hard to pull back and once in a while it slips from my thumb. Looking for a lever action rifle with a safety that would be easier to use.

Thanks,
