Without cable accessibility in this area, we have been getting landline phone and DSL internet service from Verizon. I've about used up my patience with the games they play and their perpetual fee raises. Can anybody either recommend or advise against going with HughesNet for these services based on personal experience? Does snow build-up on the dish affect service? Is there another satellite phone and ISP that anybody suggests as a better option?

Mine is pretty well protected from snow being on the south side of the house and also the fact that we haven't had much in years and years but I've had to go out with a broom and sweep it out a couple of times over the years to restore service. A heavy rain and also really heavy clouds will do it in too. That is my biggest problem with the satellite services. It was a lot more trouble back in the days of an 8' dish.
