I have a standard 22" stainless .243 barrel. I am thinking about cutting it down and crowning it at 20" and adding a youth stock for my 9 year old. I know that this will affect muzzle velocity, but what about accuracy?
Quite a few guys on this forum have done it.
It shouldn't affect accuracy as long as the barrel crown is done properly.
There are instructions in the FAQs or you can have a gunsmith do it.
This may however make a 243 (a loud round already) louder.
You don't want to create a flinch.
