Is there somewhere on-line to find regional fur prices? I used to get the Trapper and Predator Caller and enjoyed watching the price trends in it. Haven't ever had a fur to sell but you never know when that first one will come along?

Also, do furs have to be skinned cased (I think that is the same thing as in the round, isn't it) to be salable or can they be open?

Sorry for the kindergarten fur questions. I have this also posted in predators and varmint but Mr. Graybeard suggested I might get more response here so I copied it. Thanks.

Your state association might be of some help if T&PC is not good enough.

Many critters are skinned cased others like beaver and in some cases badger are skinned open.

In the "round" is unskinned on the carcass; in the "grease" or "green" is skinned but not fleshed, stretched and dried and most often are froozen.

Thanks for the clarification of the "in the round term". It fascinates me how every aspect of life develops its own unique terminology.

I am not implying that Trapper and Predator Caller was insufficient. I have simply allowed my subscription to subside and am wondering if there is a free site from which to obtain the fur value trends. I really enjoyed the magazine, just don't have enough time to sit down and read it that a magazine deserves with subscription prices. I found I was only really "reading" maybe even 1 out of 3.

There is / was a site that posted fur markt type reports; one of the forums...I forget which one. Then the NAFA site maybe a source. I need some help here.

You may need to wait a bit with vacations and conventions some of the guys are on the road.

You can look at Fur Fish & Game....they have a fur market report.
The NAFA site posts prices, however im not sure if you can see them if your not a member and have an acct#. But most of the state Trapping associations will post auction results...I know the Missouri Trappers Association does...you can look them up...find the home page...then go to auction results.

Most often, anything from the major fur auctions is a projection for the upcoming year. Not week to week or month to month.Or a breakdown of their past auction.
TRapper and predator callers monthly fur report,is probably worth your subscription price,if it isn't my articles surely must be---lol.(yes I know,I only do 4 or 5 a year) but keeping you guys in line takes the rest of my time.
