I haven't been around the forum much lately. I didn't see much about the SSK-50 yet, so thought I would start a thread for Experiences and Issues.
I have had mine a week and just yesterday started playing around with it a bit.
Good
**
-looks awesome! Don't mind the two tone look at all (all of my barrels so far are blue)
-very nice trigger pull (maybe even too light!)
Issues/Questions
*
-so far, the 3 barrels I have tried are all hard to open. May be a good thing in the long run, but may be a fitment or tuning issue
-the trigger guard/latch overlaps my forend when fully opened. I never had this with my early-ish "G1" frame (SN 48xxx). See next point for why this is an problem
-due to the issue above, I have a problem where the hammer does not remain cocked when the gun is closed. Playing around with it, the issue seems to be preventable and a non-issue if the latch were not hanging up on the forend. If in the above condition and I close the barrel smartly, the barrel with latch but the hammer will "fall" off the rebound position. Then the hammer cannot be cocked and the barrel must be re-opened. If I first move the barrel partly closed so the latch is no longer held too far open by the forend, then I can close the barrel and operate the pistol normally. Same if I close it gently so the latch/guard has time to move in two steps to the locked position (first off the foreend, then into battery). I could trim my forends to avoid this, or just be more deliberate about closing the action.
Anyone else experience/observe the same? Anything else you're seeing so far? I have not yet taken mine to the range.
Rob
